What I unearthed in the last 24hrs is quite disturbing. In a nutshell, this is it. A number of experimental studies have demonstrated that the administration of fluoride in drinking water increases the expression of calcium/calmodulin-dependent kinase II alpha (CaMKIIα) in the brain.
Why is this important? Well, overexpression of CaMKIIα in the brain has been found to be a critical factor in anxiety behaviors, depressive behaviors and schizophrenia and has been identified as the molecular gathway for addictive substance abuse, including alcohol and other drugs. Upregulation is particularly linked to binge drinking and other addictive behaviors. I find that rather worrying and it may explain a lot regarding the social problems we have in Ireland today. One thing for certain, allowing fluoridated water to be added to alcohol beverages certainly doesn't sound like a very good idea! It may also explain why the Irish are seen as a nation of addicts, from tea to alcohol, drugs to gambling or even social media addiction.
